Your Questions, Answered

FAQs

At Henleaze Physio Clinic, we’re here to help you feel confident and informed about your care. Below are answers to some of our most commonly asked questions. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out to our team.

What is a Body MOT?

A Body MOT is a head to toe screening which analyses your body and flags up any potential areas of concern before they become larger issues. We screen for muscular imbalances, joint mobility and movement patterns, and provide individualised “prehab” programmes to enhance function and performance. A lot of our clients in Bristol have a Body MOT prior to training for marathons, Hyrox and other endurance events to help prevent injuries and optimise recovery.

What to Expect: We assess muscle imbalances, joint mobility, and overall movement patterns. You’ll receive a tailored "prehab" plan with exercises and recommendations to improve your body’s function and performance.

Who It’s For: Ideal for anyone looking to prevent injuries, address recurring niggles, or optimise physical performance.

What insurance schemes do your therapists accept?

Our Chartered Physiotherapists, Becky & Chloe accept a number of insurance providers. Some patients decide to use insurance support for their ongoing physiotherapy, whether it is for sports rehab, pre-event massage or marathon recovery. Even if your scheme is not on our list of partners you may still be able to claim back treatments, depending on your policy.
If you have a payback scheme or are insured through your work, you might be able to claim your treatments back from your insurance provider, even if they are not one of our partners.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated. For example:

Shorts for lower-body injuries (especially useful for runners and Hyrox athletes).

A vest or sleeveless top for shoulder or upper-body issues. This ensures your physiotherapist can fully assess movement and provide the most effective treatment.

Do you provide physiotherapy for children?

Yes! We offer dedicated children’s physiotherapy services. Whether it’s growing pains or a sports injury, we’re here to help young patients recover and thrive.

Do I need to book an Initial Consultation before other appointments?

Yes, for most services, the Initial Consultation is required as a first step. It allows us to assess your condition, provide a diagnosis, and create a tailored treatment plan. The only exceptions are services like sports massage.

Do you treat neurological conditions?

Yes, we provide expert care for neurological conditions. Book an appointment with Chloe for specialised treatment.

Do you treat arthritis?

Yes, we provide treatment for arthritis. You can book an appointment with any member of our team for expert care.

Do I need a doctor’s referral before booking?

No, you don't need a doctor's referral to book an appointment. We can see you at any stage of your injury or condition — the earlier, the better. If needed, we will refer you to specialists for further care.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your condition and goals. Some people improve within a couple of sessions, while others with longer-term or more complex issues benefit from ongoing support. Your therapist will guide you on the expected timeframe and what’s needed to safely progress you through rehab and return to full activity or sport.

Can physiotherapy help old or long-term problems?

Yes. Physiotherapy can help both new injuries and long-standing issues by improving movement, strength and pain levels over time.

What’s the difference between an Express and an Extended Follow-Up?

Express Follow-Up (£50, 30 minutes): An Express Follow-Up is a half hour session for 'boots and all' quick check ins, review of your exercises or just to keep your recovery on track. This can be useful for people with a busy schedule or perhaps those who are ramping up training for a marathon or Hyrox competition and want a focussed session.

Extended Follow-Up (£65, 45 minutes): A longer session for more in-depth care. This includes a mix of hands-on treatment, exercise progressions, and time to address multiple issues or injuries. Best for: Patients requiring comprehensive treatment or more complex rehabilitation.

How do I know which service is right for me?

We suggest booking an Initial Consultation at Bristol. Your physio will help you decide which of our services you require. This could be pre-event massage (say, before a marathon) Hyrox training support, injury rehabilitation or long-term recovery physiotherapy.

Can I book a home visit?

Yes, home visits are available within the BS9 area of Bristol. This service is ideal for patients who are recovering from surgery, have limited mobility, are already injured, looking for injury prevention support, or require specialist physiotherapy services. Home visits can be booked online just like any of our other appointments.
Please email hello@henleazephysioclinic.co.uk if you are outside BS9 or have an additional requirement, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Please note: if a parking permit is required outside your property, please provide this to your visiting therapist. Alternatively, we can invoice you for the hourly parking rate.

Pricing: £95 for a 45-minute session.

How soon can I return to sports after an injury?

Your return-to-sport timeline depends on the nature and severity of your injury. During your consultation, we’ll discuss recovery milestones and create a plan to get you back safely and confidently.

Do you treat sports injuries?

Yes, this is our specialty. Our team is highly experienced in diagnosing and treating sports injuries to help you recover and get back to peak performance. Book an appointment with Becky or Elise for expert care.

Do you treat vestibular conditions, including dizziness and balance issues?

Yes, we specialise in treating vestibular conditions. Book an appointment with Chloe for expert care.

I’m not sporty. Can I still book a therapy appointment or massage?

Absolutely! Our treatments are for everyone, not just athletes. Whether you're looking for relief from chronic pain, stress, or simply want to improve your overall well-being, we’re here to help. You can book an appointment with any member of our team, and we’ll tailor the treatment to suit your individual needs.

What will happen in my first appointment?

Your therapist will ask questions about your symptoms, medical history and lifestyle, then assess how you move. This helps us understand the cause of your problem and create a personalised treatment plan. Treatment will commence in your initial appointment if time allows.

Will I be given exercises during my appointment?

Yes — you’ll be given an individualised rehab plan sent via email, with clear instructions for each exercise and video demonstrations. Think of it as a mini version of us guiding you through your rehab at home.
These exercises will be regularly updated and progressed during your follow up appointments as you move through each stage of your recovery, ensuring your rehab continues to match your progress and goals.
